Campeones!

No, not Brighton and Hove Albion, but The Shack, winners of the Molly Malone's Charity Cup, played last Sunday.

In the end we raised ¥86,000 which was passed on to H.I.S. to be added to the money they raised at their International Festival which they plan to send to UNICEF Japan.

Many many thanks to Wayne and H.I.S. for the use of their gym and also to Yudai and Shohei who helped me get the teams together. Thanks also ofcourse to everyone who came.

I've also been made aware of a cool project in London called Play For Japan. One of Sunday's participants and my team mate, Seisho, has been in touch with them and has even done a write up for their site. Do check it out, you can read about their goals here. Apart from the practical benefits of the work they do and promote, the philosophy behind it is one a lot of us can relate to and is similar to what I hoped we could achieve, on however small a scale, with our little tournament.

As time slips by it's easy to forget little by little about the suffering still going on up in the North East of Japan. Projects like Play for Japan and anything you and I can do, big or small, I think, play a part in helping, encouraging and supporting those people. Our people. Afterall, who's bothered about differences in the face of such a disaster? If it does one thing, it shows us how we're all the same.

The Molly Malone's Charity Cup

Tomorrow we'll be having a small Futsal competition to raise a bit of money for those affected by the Earthquake and Tsunami of last month.

Hiroshima International School are kindly letting us use their gym free of charge. Many thanks to Wayne for sorting that out.

H.I.S. has already sent a 500,000 contribution to the Japanese Red Cross. Today, at their International Festival, they are collecting for UNICEF. All of the money we raise with our tournament will be included with the sum sent to UNICEF.

There will be 8 (hopefully) teams participating and each player will donate ¥2000 to play. The teams are : H.I.S. , FC TARTARUGA, FC MAPS, ST BRAVES, FORUM, THE SHACK, YMCA and a special mystery as yet un-named team.

Molly Malones have kindly donated a cup for the winners along with discount vouchers for the 1st and 2nd place teams. Many thanks to Mark and all at Mollys for that.

And now, without further ado, here's the LIVE (when I did it) draw for the cup. Let's see if I can upload it....

New Material

Been a little while but will soon have some new tracks up on Beatpick.

Couple you may have heard and a couple of brand new (kind of) tunes.

'Rabbit Feet' is a brand new house track I'm quietly pleased with.

Cover (In the Hall Mix) is a reworking of the original featuring WaynB. I didn't use a lot of his vocals in the first effort so wanted to produce something with them in. It certainly ain't a sound system banger but is hopefully pleasing in it's own way.

You can listen to, and download for now, both of them on my Soundcloud Page.

Christmas Day - REALYTHM

Yep, this Saturday 25th of December, the Cover boys will be taking over Chinatown for their annual Realythm event.

I don't antcipate it being very Christmassy, but like most events that Cover are involved in it should be fun.

It costs ¥3000 to get in but you get 2 drinks with that.

I'm on at the relatively early 11pm but apparently last year it was banging from the very start (10pm) so, if you are looking for something to do this Yuletide that doesn't involve falling asleep infront of the latest Only Fools and Horses Xmas special, you know where to find me.

oh yeah, and, Merry Xmas

An open letter to whom ever it may concern

Listen mate/matette,

Yesterday I went to see San Frecce. It rained a lot and there's no roof, more on that later, but they won 3-0 so that was alright. Infact I don't think I have ever seen a game there with less than 3 goals. Or a defeat for Hiroshima. Bit different to when I started going to see Brighton. Went 12 times before seeing them win.

Anyway, I'm digressing. You see, every time I go there it just seems so obvious. So crystal clear that I can't believe no-one has mentioned it. We're sitting on a purple mine here in Hiroshima.

The thing is Big Arch is crap. Well it's not, it's a great stadium, for massive events that require running tracks. For football it's rubbish. Running track + Football = meh! I know, I know, if San Frecce didn't use it, who would but think about how brilliant it would be if :

There was a purpose built football stadium more centraly located? If a state of the art, architecturaly stunning stadium were to be built on the site of the old Shimin Kyujou that would be incredible, but as it is, we have that stadium down in Kannon that literally anyone can hire for less than ichi man. Stick one there. San Frecce can, on their day, pull in decent 20,000+ crowds already, if there was a proper stadium down town this would probably be a regular thing. They make a half decent job of getting the atmosphere going at big arch, with a roof, oh a roof, and no running track it could be brilliant. The team would benefit, the punters would enjoy it more, more people would come etc etc

and you wouldn't get rained on

And another thing, why don't you always play on Sundays? A quick look at attendances shows they are much higher than on Saturdays. Do the math-s. As a quick aside, as I look at the J-League results list, Urawa Reds' attendance figures really are pretty amazing.

Anyway, I know I would go more often if my fantasy football stadium were to sprout up and it would certainly help me feel more attached to the club. What better reason could there be for this not to happen.

Whoever you are, make it happen. NOW!

Beautiful Day

It really was. A classic English summer's day. Blue skys, a few puffy white clouds and brilliant sunshine without being too hot.

And I spent the whole day indoors.

I've finally got round to transferring some of my old vinyl onto the laptop, thanks Paul.

It's taking a while but is lots of fun and very なつかしい!

It could go all a bit rave the next time I DJ.

Latest track - Cover Feat. WaynB

Wrapped this up a little while ago, my latest track features the vocal talents of WaynB and is called COVER.

I'm actually working on another version of this as a lot of what we recorded didn't actually make it into the final mix, which I thought was a shame.

Anyway, you can check out the track on my MySpace player or in better quality over on my Soundcloud page. You can download that version too, for now anyway ;)

Am currently visiting friends and family back in the UK, cream tea-tastic, burp. Got two new tracks on the go and am searching for new stuff to play out and about in Hiroshima town. Back on the 20th August and will be DJing at Cover that very night, jetlag permitting ;)

Well not quite, but the first time I've Djed at a free open air event.

This Saturday night at some point....check the site for details

Will be alongside, regular Mugen night 'Hug a Speaker' stalwarts, me and Paul representing the 3K corner.

Certainly doesn't look the most stunning beach in the world, but, I'm sure it will be fun.

Shiny New Site

If you hop on over to the WC Homepage, you'll see it's had a face lift. All courtesy of my friend Saru110.

After checking out my site do have a look at his and check out some of his superb designs. They really are very good.

Unless you've got an iPhone that is. Perhaps they'll bring out an app that'll allow it one day....

GOGO CARAT and Hug A Speaker : Photos and Video

Last week's club circuit event was a lorra lorra fun. Unfortunately for me I peaked a bit too early and went home at the embarrasingly early 5.30ish. For shame.

Anyway, you can check out some photos of the various events RIGHT HERE.

Last Sunday was also the monthly Hug A Speaker at Mugen, but with a twist this month as it was broadcasted over the net on UStream as part of Cracktown FM's schedule.

You can still watch/listen to the whole thing RIGHT HERE. I start at around 1hour 26minuntes if you are interested.

GOGO CARAT Timetable

This Saturdays GOGO CARAT multi-club event's timetable is up. Visit the website here or have a look at the picture, right there <<<

Should be a great night. Loads of stuff going on, and if something doesn't inspire you....move on elsewhere.

3K are on at 11PM until 12.30am on Mugen's 3rd floor.

On a sidenote, I was pleased and completely unsurprised to see my favourite bar COVER has the latest running schedule with the final DJ's time put as 7.00 - .....

You could probably pop in for some Sunday lunch.
